It's raining, nope now it's snowing...I think it's raining again, or is that sleet. April 19, 2011 in Wisconsin
Well in less than one month we are having Motorsports Mayhem at the Richland County Fairgrounds, but today we are supposed to get 3-6 inches of snow, and it should all be melted by tomorrow. We are getting geared up for the Mayhem Event May 14th. The knights of columbus just bought 110 ft of bleachers for the fairgrounds to expand the seating on the grandstand side of the pulling tracks. This will be good for our Hybrid redneck events but especially better for the Rodeo and The Fair events where they don't have seats on the pit side of the pulling tracks.
We are really close to getting everything finalized on the Jessica Dull Memorial Building to be built at the fairgrounds. She loved to pull her truck at the fairgrounds, and her Dad wants to have something at the fairgrounds that is close to the pulling track in her memory.
Don't forget all you ATV racers, Vetesnik Power Sports is setting up a test and tune truck on April 30th at the store.
See you all May 14th at Motorsports Mayhem.

Richland County, WI It's a happening place.
Mother Nature did her best to fool us on April 1st! Hopefully it was her last burst of snow and slush before spring weather settles in for good! It’s nice to see people outside raking and picking up their lawns. We want our town to look great before the tourism season hits high gear!
Congratulations to Fiesta Fe Café for serving delicious meals to locals and tourists in Richland Center for ten years. Ten years of owning and operating a successful restaurant is an amazing accomplishment! Richland Center is lucky to have such a great restaurant for people to enjoy. Sharing a meal together is important not only to fill one’s belly, but it is also a way for people to connect. Whenever I go in or past Fiesta Fe I’ve noticed couples, families, business people, locals and tourists all sharing a meal together. The atmosphere is fresh and clean, and the food is excellent along with the service. Thank you Fiesta Fe Café for your presence in the community. We wish you continued success!
Richland Electric Cooperative received special recognition from the Wisconsin state Senate recently. Senator Dale Schultz presented REC with the special award. Richland County farmers joined together 75 years ago to start REC. They have continued to grow and currently provide electric service to over 3,300 members on 972 miles of line to members in Richland County and portions of Crawford, Vernon, and Sauk counties. Senator Schultz also congratulated all members, past and present, for 75 years of outstanding service and innovation. Hat’s off to Richland Electric Cooperative for fulfilling a vision and setting a standard of excellence. Thank you for your commitment to the Richland Center/County area and for providing many jobs to local residents as well as service.
Viola Quick Stop has new owners! Bill Bender has sold the main street business after owning and operating it for nearly 30 years. The new owners are Travis and Angela Egge of Westby. We wish Bill well as he retires and spends some quality time with his grandchildren and doing personal hobbies. We also wish Travis and Angela much success as they take over the business.
Are you into fiber art? The University of Wisconsin – Platteville is seeking submissions for a juried exhibition of all types of fiber art. The exhibition will be on view from May 17th through June 11th, 2011. Application materials must be received by Monday, May 2nd. The cost for this exhibition opportunity is $15 for up to five pieces. If you have this talent and would like to participate, please contact Carole Spelic at 608-342-1314 or spelicc@uwplatt.edu.
Reminders:
Friday is the Marketing Makeover Workshop. We are looking forward to seeing those of you that have signed up for this event. There’s still plenty of room and time to sign up if you haven’t done so yet. Don’t forget the entertainment in the evening too. For more information please call us at 647-6205.
Friday is also the deadline to turn in any business information or promotional items for the ‘Welcome Bags’ that will be distributed at the Fairgrounds on April 14th. Thank you to Pine Valley for supplying the bags and to the Brewer Library for sharing your materials. This is a ‘free’ opportunity to promote your business. The meeting will host over 50 people visiting from surrounding counties throughout the day. We hope they will think RC is great and come back time and time again to partake in our events, shop, eat, fill up their cars with gas, and invite their friends too!
Save the date for April 14th! We will be hosting a ‘Meet & Greet’ here at the Visitor’s Center from 8:00 – 10:00 am. Let’s put the ‘unity’ in Community and take some time to connect with others. There have been several new businesses that recently became Chamber Members. Let’s welcome them and get to know who they are and what their businesses offer in the community. Come and check out the Visitor’s Center too. If you have any brochures or business cards you would like on display here, please bring them along and we can put them out.
